Faurot Park

Originally the Lake Subdivision, it was received as a gift on February 4, 1904. At that time was called City Park . The Faurot Park Addition was acquired as a gift on September 12, 1935. The consolidated 86-acre tract was then named after the original discoverer of oil in Lima, Benjamin Faurot.

Present day Faurot Park is 89 acres of green space that includes seven ball diamonds, four shelter houses, four lakes, a concert pavilion, three playground areas, three sand volleyball courts, a cross-country running course, a skate park, a paved walking/biking path, and the children’s fountain/splash pad. This park is home to the annual 4th of July Star Spangled Spectacular celebration. In the winter, the Sertoma shelter's fireplace is stocked with wood for those sledding on the hill nearby to warm up. With an abundance of outdoor activities to offer, Faurot Park lends itself to a day of recreational enjoyment all year long.
